What do we do with ZAKAT ?

When The Tooba Foundation was in operation, there was a question raised, as to what do we do with the Zakat Fund ? The thing is, we cannot and should not lend the Zakat Fund to people, and expect them to return to us in lue of Interest Free loans. So after discussion with our board of members, we decided that we will locate, inquire those people who are very much in need of Zakat. They range from a family who cannot afford a bread winner, or whose bread winner have died or who are living from hand to mouth.

Our officers do the inquiry and then a list is prepared for those people to provide Zakat. The Zakat is then disbursed to those select people / families and they are never asked anything in return.

This service is entirely different and is not explicitly publicized as the normal loan disbursement of The Tooba Foundation.

So you see, we do accept Zakat in our funds. If you are planning to provide us your Zakat, you do know that your Zakat will be utilized in a proper way. We could even choose to publish the list of people (not publicly, but those people who provided Zakat) in future if need arises.

One can always head to Donations page for giving us donations, which will be utilized by giving interest free loans, or give donations by indicating that you are giving your Zakat / Sadaqat, which will be utilized in the manner explained above.
